Heavy use of short wavelength (blue) light

There is evidence to conclude that heavy use of short wavelength (blue) light electronic devices is negatively affecting the endocrine & immune systems.

There is sufficient evidence to conclude that heavy use of short wavelength (blue) light from back-lit electronic devices is negatively affecting the endocrine and immune systems of millions of people across the planet through its disruption of the natural sleep-wake cycle, i.e. circadian rhythm.

Other than the primary solution of avoidance of these technologies after dark, the use of your device’s built-in blue light filter or a program such as “f.lux” can be a simple yet instrumental solution for creating the internal conditions for more optimal sleep.

We are all essentially guinea pigs when it comes to the long term effects of indiscriminate modern technology use. While an older adult in post-reproductive age may make their own cost benefit analysis of technology habits without concern for potential multi-generational reverberations, the same cannot be said for children and young adults.
